One Tip a Week: Orbstack
This week’s tip of the week is about Orbstack, a drop in replacement for Docker for Desktop on macOS. I had heard about it about a year ago, but never bothered to install it. It came across my radar again about a month ago when I saw a blog post about, so I asked on socials, and people said it was solid, so I gave it a go.
From their docs:
OrbStack is a drop-in replacement for Docker Desktop on macOS that's fast, light, simple, and easy to use. It runs both containers and Linux machines.
It’s got lower CPU usage and has fast startup times. Check out the whole comparison matrix in their OrbStack vs. Docker Desktop page of their docs.

I haven’t had any issues since switching so I’d say it’s definitely a drop in replacement at this point. If you use Docker for Desktop on macOS, give it a go and let me know how you find it!
That’s it! Short and sweet. Until the next one!
